Cabinets Constructions:
Many cabinets are made with wood grained vinyl and real wood. The vinyl often ages to a
different color than the wood to create a two tone affect. I have seen most vinyl coating
peel, bubble, or stain. Solid real wood or plywood has been proven over long periods of
time to hold up the best. We Avoid any applied wood grained coverings that aren't real
wood. Wood outlasts plastic.
We try to avoid any cabinets made with particle board ( sometimes referred to as MDF, or
other names ). This saw dust or flake board material does not hold a fastener as well as
solid wood or plywood. Particle board tends to flake easily ( especially near the edges )
as compared to solid wood or plywood. Flaking can cause glues to give out or edges of the
veneer to peel. Particle board also adds an incredible amount of unnecessary weight to the
cabinet which most installers will complain about ( heavy materials is not necessarily a
sign of good materials ).
When we construct cabinets, we do not base the choice on well written specifications or a
pretty cabinet face. Many building professionals have been fooled by a well written
specification sheet. A poorly constructed box will leave you in the position of having to
replace your cabinet in a few years. If the manufacturer can provide cabinets in four
weeks or less, expect lack of quality control and rushed assembly methods. If the cabinet
is a "stock" cabinet or "semi-custom" cabinet, remember - you will get
what you pay for. So we insist that you Educate yourself before you buy or get a cabinets
constructed . Even if the cabinet has a lifetime warranty, some manufacturer often tries
to back out of fulfilling claims by blaming cabinet failure on customer abuse but we at
Sharma Construction assure you of the quality work.
